Legacy.

What if I told you my work is, at its core, an anthology? It is a series of meditations on life, death, and everything in between. It is a record, a declaration that I lived, and a reflection on what we leave behind.

I arrived at a threshold and felt the void more clearly than I expected. It was the kind of pause where “What is next?” grows loud. The only answer that held was “Legacy.”

If we are, in the end, only a brief presence, then legacy is the truest imprint we leave behind. I have made peace with the likelihood that I will not pass down inherited wealth. I have chosen, instead, to leave tangible original works that say: I lived. I was here. I lived with joy and good spirit.

Legacy is a collection of time capsules, each one a moment held in color and form. These paintings are meditations on particular emotions and reflections on the human experience. If you find joy, beauty, complexity, or story in any of them, then the work has done what it came to do.

Bring what you will to them. Your meaning is welcome here. Anything more than apathy is enough.

Legacy often lives in small deliberate acts. My clearest memories are of my mother, who built a life shaped by hobbies, projects, outlandish capers, and thoughtfully ordered plans. She poured her energy into crafts, surprises, treats, and holiday decor, each gesture a quiet proof of care and intention.

I move between figurative work and abstraction. I am drawn to images that feel immediate, and to surfaces that carry residue, revision, and insistence. I am learning to make room for quiet and grace in the work, in the same way I am learning to make room for them in life.

Some pieces are ready to join a collection, while others will remain with me as anchors and witnesses. I also welcome collaborations, from textiles and apparel to album covers, product design, and custom commissions.

I hope something here invites you to consider your own legacy. What will you leave behind?

“We’re all dying—some of us just faster than others,” -- my Grandfather, James B. Horman, once said while bending down to pick up a golf ball on a crisp, perfect fall day in New Hampshire.
