Moon Rise. Cold Wax on Birchboard.

This painting is a little adventure: an August moonrise so huge, you're not just admiring it — you’re walking on it! I hope it brings a little magic into a child's bedroom or into the hands of any lifelong moon lover. And who knows? If you listen close enough, you might just hear Cat Stevens’ Moonshadow playing along.

This artwork features a textured yellow upper section that dominates the composition, contrasted sharply by a muted, grayish horizontal band at the bottom. The yellow area is rich with variations in hue and undertones, creating a sense of depth and movement within what might otherwise be a flat expanse of color. Subtle marks and irregularities in the yellow suggest an organic quality, which invites the viewer to explore the surface closely. The gray band at the base anchors the piece, providing balance and grounding the luminous yellow above, while its subdued texture hints at a rough, perhaps concrete-like surface.
