In this piece, my intention is to celebrate the layered, textured, and often opaque nature of love, an emotion that invites meaningful conversations, even when words are difficult to find. Love, like this painting, reveals itself in peaks and crevasses, scraped surfaces and sudden softness. The palette of deep crimson and burnt orange captures both the warmth and intensity of connection, while the physical structure of the work, with its ridges and valleys, calls out to be touched.

The layering of texture parallels the layers of our experiences, reflecting both the beauty and fragility inherent in relationships. While the darker hues may suggest a depth of feeling, they also offer a space for reflection and solace—a reminder that love often exists alongside heartache. The subtle vertical markings across the canvas hint at a triptych, symbolizing the passage of time and memory. My goal is not to overwhelm but to invite contemplation, allowing the viewer to recognize their own experiences within this visual narrative. The glimmers of copper interspersed throughout serve as nods to hope and resilience, illuminating how love can persist even in difficult circumstances.

Ultimately, this piece is a quiet celebration of the transformative power of love—a record of tenderness and survival. You are welcome to rename it with your own story, your own memory, or the name of your love story. Let it become part of your narrative.
